What's Bokashi?
Griffin Family Bokashi is our homemade food waste inoculant and compost accelerator.
Specially prepared for maximum fermentation to guarantee food scraps turn into soil seamlessly.
We've designed this bran to soak up as much moisture as possible, while still allowing complete fermentation to occur.
This bran is made from organic wheat bran, all natural pine shavings, lactic acid bacteria, and fermented plant juice made from homegrown dandelion, comfrey, and/or yarrow, plus brown sugar and/or molasses.
How does the Bokashi Fermentation Bin work?
Our Bokashi Fermentation Bin is simple in design but effective for fermenting food scraps.
We've used this exact design for years and have always had great results.
These five gallon, food grade plastic buckets fit on top of one another. The top bucket is fitted with a sealable lid to keep odors in and flies out. It also has drainage holes at the bottom of the bin to allow Bokashi leachate to escape.
The lower bucket then catches the leachate so that you can use it however you like, whether that's diluting it and spraying it on your plants, pouring it over your compost pile, or right on top of your garden soil.
The design is simple, but with less moving parts, less can break or go wrong.
This Bokashi Fermentation Bin is perfect for getting started, or just adding to your collection!
It can also be repurposed in a number of ways for garden use, from straining homemade natural liquid fertilizers, as a worm bin, or simply as a way to seal up or carry materials from the garden.
